One of my other reasons for including Chengdu on my trip (apart from the Giant Buddha) was to visit the Chengdu Panda Breeding & Research Center, organising a trip with the hotel I got there early one morning to catch the pandas meal times, I still remember seeing the very first one amongst all the bamboo trees sitting there like a baby and chewing away on their favourite pastime, just like the one in the photo, brilliant. The rest of my time in Chengdu I spent wandering around the big city and seeing what interesting stuff I could find, I noticed the ‘new found wealth’ China creeping in with old buildings being knocked down and modern ones being put up…
